Charles Barney Sr., was the son of Luther and Niber Abigail Winship Barney. He was born March 23, 1783, in Massachusetts. He was an early pioneer of Utah. Arrived in Utah, Sept. 9, 1852, with the Bryant Jolley Co. The hardships of the early pioneers were neither exciting nor pleasant, with no one to cheer them on their way.
